Great Idea Ty. If you have your own personal blog, please leave the url for your blog and I will make a big list to the right of all our personal blogs so people can see what we are thinking. Also, if you have a website that you go to for resources, please let me know and I will put it in the resource list.
Also, I have a question for all of you. What do you do for a sabbath? How do you renew/refresh yourself? Lately I've been thinking about how do I recharge my batteries, and I would love to hear from all of you how you do it. So please share.

I don't often, which is sad because I know when I do it and take the time, it means so much and is such a blessing.
What works, when I do it, is...
...time in the woods, trail, shoreline, outside.
...a prayer labrinth.
...journaling.
...time with some worship music in quiet.
...a several day get-away spiritual retreat.
...contemplative reading.
I know having weekly or regular Sabbath will keep me sane. but sadly, insanity seems to reign in my life lately.
walking, being outside, sitting at a coffee shop with a good book or a friend, hanging out with my nieces and nephews, journaling, any of those things energize me! I try (although not always so good at it) to take regular mini retreats. This weekend, however, I am leaving for GA for a 4 day youth pastors retreat...sitting, resting, listening and yes most likely even wrestling with God on some areas of life and ministry as i bask in the presence of our loving, gracious, merciful God.
First, I know many of you either don't know me or don't remember me from our lunch meeting several months back. I was with Chester W. and Andrea (from the mission). Anyway, my personal blog is http://xarispt2.blogspot.com. I'm the Pastor of Student Ministries at Calvary Baptist Church on 32nd Street.
That said, I'd like to take a moment to answer your question about the sabbath and recharging the batteries....
Personally, as I know it is for all of you, Sunday is my busiest day of the week. But, in a sense, that's okay because the sabbath (in the OT) was a day that was set apart for different type of ministry work. And Sunday is definitely different from the rest of the week. That said, I simply try to refresh my batteries daily through morning prayer walks in the auditorium and the study of the Word (as I'm studying for a SS lesson or Wednesday nights). I also read good biblical books that try to ground me theologically, etc.
Hope this helps.

Is my new personal blog, we will see how this goes.
As for sabbath I take off every Thur and Fri afternoon each week and just hang out with my 9 month old baby. It is fun, a different pace, and allows me not to think about everything else going on. I also take time to read books and just sit outdoors and reflect or read (I do this a lot in the fall and call it hunting, LOL). I wish I could spend a few hours every day outside and be still but we all know how that goes, it is hard enough at times to even take enough time to read the word and be refueled each day.
